Arai Corsair X Helmet's Shell: PB SNC 2.

Made from Super Fiber and other unique synthetic fibers developed for the visors of the F-1 helmet. Arai professionals assembled and bonded the parts. Stronger bonds between shell materials are made with less weight by a specially developed resin. Shell has exceptional tensile strength thanks to a number of strategically placed materials and lightweight resin. The VAS Shield System of Arai Corsair X Helmet. The Arai Corsair X Helmet is the only one with the VAS (Variable Axis System) shield and side pods. The position of the shield mount can be lower than most helmets thanks to the variable axis (moving pivot point). It combines superb quality, stylishly sleek design, and the utmost comfort and safety. Since the RF's initial release in 1984, years of R&D have driven the evolution in safety, design, comfort, noise reduction, and just all-around good quality that only Shoei is prepared to offer. The RF has become a mainstay bucket in the moto community.

Conceptual Design. The RF's ventilation and aerodynamics have been improved through wind tunnel testing to advance the design. With a 4% drop in drag and a 6% drop in lift, Shoei was able to maximize the RF1200's aerodynamics. Shoei's newest full-face helmet is the lightest SNELL-approved model available, and its compact, aerodynamic shell shape is designed to maximize ventilation as air flows over you. No rider wants to give up essential qualities that most lighter helmets sacrifice, like wind noise. With its new noise reduction technology, the RF-1400, despite being the lightest in the lineup, eliminates all possibility of ear pain.

Using their Vortex Generator technology to displace wind turbulence, Shoei was able to improve the shape of the brand-new CWR-F2 shield system while also providing a quieter shell design for the spoilered shell that was created in a wind tunnel. A completely new airtight window beading system creates a windproof and waterproof seal that is so strong you'd think it was your turn to try and open the pickle jar. In order to lessen the "blow" of wind noise, the RF-1400 also has some larger cheek pads and detachable ear pads.

Construction of the Shell and EPS Liner.

A helmet that not only satisfies SNELL M2020 and DOT ratings but also is Shoei's strongest, most elastic shell, providing the wearer with optimal impact absorption, is produced using proprietary technology that combines a matrix of hand-laid interwoven layers of fiberglass and light organic fibers. Furthermore, the RF-1400 is lined with a dual layer of multi-density EPS foam that not only helps with impact absorption but also allows cool air to freely flow through the channels created in the liner. The compact, light-weight design of the RF-1400 was shaped by the careful placement of the EPS material.

To create the CWR-F2 base plate system, Shoei completely redesigned the previous baseplates from the RF-1200. The main goal of the system is to enable quicker and more effortless shield changes that are just as satisfying as the single "pop" of successfully removing the pickle jar lid. Shield opening in the "first position" for advanced venting and defogging is made possible by a newly designed baseplate gear and the smoother, more accurate shield adjuster mechanism. But Shoei didn't stop there—new to the RF series is a strategically placed locking mechanism that evenly distributes shield forces on both sides.

The 2D "outside" surface combined with the 3D technology gives the 3D injection molded CWR-F2 shield an aggressive appearance without sacrificing visibility, and it manages a distortion-free field of vision while shielding your eyes from 99 percent of the sun's harmful UV rays. Combine it with the 10 percent wider Pinlock EVO that is already included to get rid of fog and any lateral visibility issues.

The interior of the RF-1400 is completely removable, washable, replaceable, and adjustable and is made of Max-Dry materials, which absorb and evaporate sweat two times faster than conventional nylon. The material of the cheek pads is soft and long-lasting to offer comfort and a plush fit, and the material of the voluminous pads is multi-layered for improved stabilization and to reduce noise levels inside the helmet. Utilize the optional interior accessories available in various sizes to alter how it fits.

Ventilation Effectiveness.

They apologize for being a little wordy, but they want you to understand how fantastic this helmet is. For your comfort, the ventilation system has 3 channels that can control 6 air entryways: 2 in the center, 2 in the chin bin, and 1 on either side of the temples. The side vents are larger for greater air intake, and the center/forehead vent has been moved and now offers an additional air vent hole compared to its predecessor. The RF-1400 has a redesigned, enlarged exhaust vent with 4 outlets to push the hot air out while bringing in all that delicious, cool air.
