In this article, we are going to share all the news about these new phones’ release date, names, prices, design changes, tech specs, and new features.

iPhone rumors

What will the next iPhone be called?

Let’s start by reviewing what versions Apple has released so far:

iPhone: 2007

iPhone 3G: 2008

iPhone 3GS: 2009

iPhone 4: 2010

iPhone 4s: 2011

iPhone 5: 2012

iPhone 5s: 2013

iPhone 6: 2014

iPhone 6s: 2015

iPhone 7: 2016

1. iPhone rumors

From 2007 to 2016, apple’s nomenclature for new iPhones was somewhat predictable. But in 2017, things have changed.

iPhone 8(P)

iPhone X

There are enough potential names for the next iPhone that we’ve heard a lot.

iPhone 9 and iPhone 9 Plus

iPhone 11 and 11 Plus

iPhone Xs and Xs Plus

iPhone X Plus

What will Apple call its iPhone 2018 models? Rumors from earlier this year suggested that Apple would put all its efforts into this fall’s releases, so it seems certain that the new iPhones will continue with the “X” name. Therefore, it’s looking like we may get iPhone Xs, Xs Plus and iPhone X Plus. This is the most current rumor and the most believable conjecture.

New iPhone launch date & release date

Apple unveiled the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus on Sept. 12 last year, and it will do so again in 2018. The new iPhones will be revealed at an event at Apple’s Steve Jobs Theater on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. Pacific time, or 1 p.m. Eastern.

Expect Three New 2018 iPhones

Some professionals suggest that Apple would release three new iPhones in 2018, just like it released the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X in 2017. It’s believed that one of those models will come with a 5.8-inch screen to match the iPhone X. And The largest of the bunch could deliver a display size of 6.5 inches. We can expect three models: iPhone Xs, Xs Plus and iPhone X Plus with  5.8-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.1-inch screen respectively.

2018 new iPhone price

Even without the official iPhone XI price, we know it’ll cost a lot. After all, Apple priced the iPhone X starting at $999 (£999, AU$1,579). We could see the possible prices for the iPhone Xs.

6.5-inch OLED – $1,199

5.8-inch OLED – $999

6.1-inch LCD – $849

Bear in mind that these are only starting prices, and higher storage capacities will be more expensive.

What Features Can We Expect in the Next iPhone?

TOUCH ID

By removing 3D Touch though, Apple could reduce the weight and thickness of the screen according to iDB. On iPhone X, Apple deleted the Home button and Touch ID. Instead, we got Face ID. Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst for KGI Securities, predicts that Apple will bring touch ID to the three new phones coming in 2018.

Colors

let’s go back to the colors that have come out of the iPhone so far.

iPhone 5s: 2013 — Gold.

iPhone 6s: 2015 — Rose gold.

iPhone 7: 2016 — Black and jet black.

iPhone 7: 2017 — (Product) RED.

iPhone 8: 2018 — “New” gold.

The current iPhone 8 comes in just three colors: space grey, silver, and gold, so this would represent quite a change. There are five potential new colors for the new iPhone model. It is very possible that Kuo says grey and white, which refers to the Space Grey and Silver finishes as seen on the current iPhone X. At the same time, New 2018 iPhone models may come in gold, grey, white, blue, red and orange colors.

Cameras

The Apple iPhone X features a dual-rear camera, as does the iPhone 8 so we wouldn’t be surprised to see dual-rear cameras on all the 2018 iPhone models.

The previous speculation from KGI Securities said that the next iPhones would feature the TrueDepth 3D rear cameras.

Battery and wireless charging

Kuo also claims the 5.8-inch model may have a 10% larger battery than the iPhone X, while the 6.5-inch model might have a battery of about 3,300 or 3,400mAh, which is roughly a 25% increase.

Display

In the early days, there were some rumors that Apple is working on developing an iPhone that features a curved OLED display. Maybe it is true for Apple wants to show the difference among competitors, or maybe it is just a trick.

There is another speculation: Apple is working on developing foldable iPhones. An iPhone with a folding display would allow Apple to fit more display into a small space, and bring a new dimension to the iOS platform.

What about iOS 12?

Here’s what we know about iOS 12 based on your older iPhone:

  • It is compatible with iPhone 5S, iPad mini2 and iPad Air and newer.
  • The older iPhones will be 40% to 70% faster at certain tasks.
  • Tuesday, September 18 (or close to it) – the final iOS 12 software (still free) will be released.
  • LEGO, Fender, Adobe, and Pixar are all working on AR with Apple.
  • Photos app is now smarter with iOS 12.
