About Bell Forest Products
Bell Forest Products was launched in 2001 by Dennis Bell and his son Boone. Being an avid woodworker, Dennis was disappointed with the lack of local trees, dried in deciduous kilns. This was compounded by the fact that he lived on the upper Michigan peninsula surrounded by forests and was unable to obtain lumber for his projects. After buying a portable sawmill and a drying oven, Dennis and Boone began buying logs, sawing them, and drying lumber. They started selling some extra lumber locally and then realized that there was a great demand for figured wood. Some of the world's finest maple birds are from the upper Michigan Peninsula, so Dennis and Boone began buying these much-needed logs from local loggers. In 2003, Bell Forest Products transformed from a Dennis workshop to a vacant warehouse in downtown Ispeming, Michigan. The 37,000 sq / ft building was previously a train depot and warehouse facility.
