About Handwriting Without Tears
The Idea of Handwriting Without Tears started in 1977 by Jan Olen, of which she set out a strategy to help the son because of his bad handwriting in schools. He promptly responded to John’s tears over the bad handwriting in the first grade. Jan utilized her occupational therapy training and foundation to create strategies to enhance his handwriting. Thereafter, there was an improvement on John handwriting noted by his teacher. This is how the journey started and Jan became popular and she helps so many students to improve on their handwriting in the area. Their major goal is to make learning and teaching simple and fun by offering sophisticated educational products, training, and materials to educators and parents. They are the leaders in offering simple to learn, simple to teach, developmentally suitable, and inclusive materials to elementary students. More than three million students become confident communicators by using the Learning Without Tears programs. Created with children in mind, the multisensory and developmental instruction was simple and highly effective for all children and teachers. From there, they included a Pre-K program, Get Set for School, so early numbers and letter sounds could dance across your classroom. They introduced you to their favorite hero, Mat Man. Then, they added Keyboarding Without Tears to get children ready for new forms of communicating. The company has grown to make sure all children have all the tools they need to express their thoughts, step by step, letter by letter. They’re here to help you find the heart of every letter and motivate a love of learning.
